London Hookups: Casual Sex on Your Side of Town
Soho, Shoreditch, Camden or Brixton: choose your patch, meet somewhere public and know how you’re getting home.
A casual meet in London starts in the chat: agree what you both want, then settle on a public place halfway between you and a way home for each of you. The Night Tube runs on Friday and Saturday nights only, and Transport for London says night buses run 24 hours a day.
Think halfway
Where do you meet in a city this size?
Not on your doorstep, and not on theirs.
The Office for National Statistics counted 8,799,728 usual residents in the London region at the 2021 Census. Greater London is 32 boroughs plus the City of London, says Wikipedia, so two people who both say London can be miles apart.

What gets you home when the Tube stops?
Night Tube: six lines (Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria and Windrush) run through the night on Fridays and Saturdays only, at off-peak fares, says Transport for London. Check your station in its planner.
- Night buses run 24 hours a day, and TfL says every bus has CCTV.
- TfL bans drinking, and open containers of alcohol, across its network, so finish your drink first.
- TfL lists British Transport Police’s Night Tube numbers: text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40.
Where can you get tested in London?
The NHS says sexual health clinics are free, whatever your age, gender, ethnicity or sexuality.
- Sexual Health London
- A postal service for people without symptoms. Lambeth Council says you must be 16 or over and live in a borough that takes part.
- 56 Dean Street
- A Soho clinic run by Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, which says it specialises in the LGBTQI+ community. Its site says to come in without an appointment within 72 hours of HIV exposure, for emergency contraception or after a sexual assault; otherwise its online tool decides.
- Guy’s and St Thomas’
- Runs the Burrell Street and Minnie Kidd House clinics, and says PrEP and contraceptive coils or implants are by appointment.

London questions, answered
Does the Night Tube run every night?
No. Transport for London says it runs on Friday and Saturday nights only, across six lines: Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly, Victoria and Windrush. It names no other nights, so from Sunday to Thursday rely on the night buses.
Can I hail a minicab in London?
No. TfL says only black taxis can be hailed in the street. A minicab must be booked, and your confirmation should show the plate, the driver’s first name, a licence number and a photo. If the car or driver doesn’t match, don’t get in.
Where do I go for an STI test in London?
NHS sexual health clinics are open to everyone. Try 56 Dean Street in Soho, a Guy’s and St Thomas’ clinic or the John Hunter Clinic, or order a postal kit from Sexual Health London if you have no symptoms.
