Local Sex Meets vs Feeld: Open-Minded or Casual First?

Three quick questions, a table and what Feeld does well, so you can pick the one that fits.

The short answer

Feeld suits curious, open-minded adults who like an app and want room to explore. Local Sex Meets suits adults who would rather state casual sex plainly, in a browser, with tags and filters doing the talking.

Pick your side in three questions

  1. Do you want an app?

Feeld is reached through its app, listed in the UK, Irish and US App Stores. We skip the store: open us in a browser, then pin us to your home screen if you like.

  2. Hookup app, or something wider?

Feeld does not call itself a hookup app, saying the label sounds limiting. Its pitch is a space for the curious, with connections from short to lasting. If casual sex is the whole point, tags like Ready Now and Short-term Fun say so from the start.

  3. How do you confirm who you are?

Feeld has optional photo verification, and in the UK a live selfie or phone check confirms age. Here, an ID check comes at no charge and earns a badge, while a live video check run by a moderator confirms you without documents.

What is each one good at?

Where Feeld is strong

  • Control over who sees you: an incognito mode, photo timers, view-once videos and screenshot prevention.
  • More than one way to say hello: besides Likes, Feeld offers Pings, its way of going up and saying hello.
  • Consent in black and white: its Community Guidelines define consent as an unambiguous yes, freely given, without coercion or manipulation.
  • A safety team on call: Feeld says it is available 24/7 and that you can report to it quickly and safely.

What we put first

  • Intent before hello: tags such as Available This Weekend or Open to Whatever show what you are after before a message is sent.
  • Filters that narrow it: on VIP you can search by city or distance, by experience level and by what someone says they are open to. The features page shows each level.
  • Verification on your terms: take the ID check, the video check or neither. Sensitive images arrive blurred behind a warning here too.

Safe habits that work on any app

  • Be wary of moving apps

Feeld’s safety page lists a move to WhatsApp, Kik or WeChat as a scam sign, along with requests for money. The dating scams guide has more.

  • Make the first meet public

Pick a busy place, tell a friend and organise your own way home. Meeting for sex safely walks you through it.

  • Cut off, then report

Feeld says you can report quickly and safely. Blocking here is instant, and the safety page lists the rest.

Straight answers on Feeld

What is the Feeld app?

Feeld’s FAQ describes a dating app for the curious, for people willing to try new ways of meeting and connecting. Feeld Ltd, registered in England and Wales, runs it, and it first reached the App Store in June 2014.

Is Feeld for hookups?

Not by its own description. Feeld says calling itself a hookup app sounds limiting, and it presents a space where curious people explore connections from short to lasting. Casual sex is not its stated focus. On Local Sex Meets it is, and the tags and filters follow.

Is Feeld free?

Feeld says the app is free to download and use, and that members can message without paying. Its Majestic Membership is a monthly or annual subscription priced by location, and the UK terms say it renews automatically each month. The UK App Store listing also sells Ping packs.

Do you have to verify your age on Feeld?

Members must be 18 or over. Feeld says UK members confirm their age with a quick live selfie or a mobile phone check, citing new legal requirements such as the Online Safety Act. Ofcom’s September 2025 industry bulletin lists Feeld among dating services that had announced or introduced age checks.
